‘La Belleza Duele’

My parents moved to the states from Mexico to have me back in 1988. Though we did not have much, they always made sure we had what we needed and showed up looking our best. From braces to good posture - growing up my dad always reiterated, ‘la belleza duele,’ which means beauty hurts in Spanish. To me, this will always ring true in my mind and heart. Just as in modeling, in life we at times sacrifice and accept being uncomfortable temporarily for results & reward.
